Teaching Safety Topics for Summer
Kids love summer vacation with its lazy days, picnics, swimming, biking, visits to the park, and more. With a few simple reminders, you can help your kids have a safe, happy, fun-filled summer break.
The Sun and Safety
Help your kids to be mindful of the sun. Hours and hours of summer activity happens outside, from swimming to biking and everything in between. Apply sunscreen to your small children approximately 30 minutes before you venture outdoors, and oversee sunscreen application for your older kids and even teenagers. They may think that a tan looks great, but a sunburn never looks good and can be very painful.
You can also teach your kids that an ounce of prevention may be worth a pound of cure later. Repeated sunburns or overexposure to the sun’s damaging rays increases a person’s risk for developing skin cancers. Even the youngest children can influence their health in the future by developing good sun habits. Remember to reapply the product according to the package directions, especially after sweating or swimming. |
